United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the governing body for all soccer in the United States is implementing changes to practices and policies. The following information outlines what those mandated changes are, and how it will affect your youth soccer player.
Change # 1: All competitive soccer in the USA will be changing to birth-year as opposed to school year age grouping as mandated by USSF (United States Soccer Federation). The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association will be implementing these changes in the Fall Season 2016.
Change # 2: All competitive soccer in the USA will move to the same small sided format for games:
This change will be implemented in Minnesota in Fall 2017.
Fall 2016 and Summer 2016 will remain as 6v6 (U9/10) and 8v8(U11/12).
Change # 3: Field sizes and goal sizes will change for the 7v7 and 9v9 soccer.
This change will be implemented in Minnesota in Fall 2017.
To support a smooth transition to these changes the Blaine Soccer club in regulation with the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association will begin with partial adjustments in the fall of 2016 and will ensure completion of these mandates by the fall of 2017. The timeframe for these changes will take place at the same period of time for all Clubs/Associations in Minnesota.
