This weekend, Blaine Soccer Club began its 2019 summer season with the NSC Kick-Off Challenge. Nearly 30 different teams from BSC’s competitive program participated in the event. For many players, this was the first chance to get off the artificial turf and onto the grass fields with their teammates.
Despite the chilly weather, several Blaine teams performed exceptionally well for their first tournament of the year. After a strong run of games, the 07 EDT 1 Boys made it to the semi-finals early Sunday morning.
Similarly, the 01 Travel 1 Boys also made it to the semis after drawing and winning their prior games. Unfortunately, they were unable to advance to the final.
The 01 EDT 1 Boys advanced to the finals following an impressive string of games, scoring 14 goals in their first 3 games. However, they came up short in the championship game and missed out on bringing home the trophy.
Finally, the 06 EDT 1 and 2 Girls also found themselves in the cup final. After a thrilling set of matches with plenty of goals, the final results ended a win for both Blaine teams. In their first major competition of the season, they both claimed the title of champions.
