This past weekend was an exciting soccer experience for many of our BSC players. Early on Saturday morning, 12 different GPS teams headed off to Fargo, ND to compete in a one-day international jamboree. These 12 teams consisted of players from different clubs in Minnesota including Blaine Soccer Club, St. Croix, and Lakes United. An additional Blaine team also tagged along for the trip.
Buses took off bright and early at 5:45 am. On the bus ride there, kids had plenty of time to watch movies, socialize, sing, and sleep. This was the first time for many of them to ride on a coach bus. Many took the chance to get to know players from other teams and make friends along the way.
Once they arrived, the teams began preparing for their matches. The dozen teams included two different 2008 Boys teams, two 2007 Boys teams, two 2007 Girls teams, two 2006 Girls teams, two 2006 Boys teams, two 2005 Girls teams, and an 04. Every GPS team there played two games each against elite competition from North Dakota and Canada. Players were able to experience a dynamic range of quality competition during their matches.
After their matches, the kids were all able to enjoy subs for lunch thanks to a successful fundraiser at Jersey Mike’s several weeks ago. During their breaks, players would cheer on other GPS teams competing. After a long day of soccer, our BSC players headed home with new friends, memories, and experiences.
