BLAINE, MN | May 18th 5:00PM
Dear BSC Members,
Last week, Governor Walz announced that he would let the Stay at Home order expire today, May 18th. While the new new order does have some language about returning to play for youth sports in Minnesota, sports league officials received follow-up from the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC) clarifying that there are still many things that need to be reviewed specific to youth sports.
The newly formed task force led by the MASC is working closely with local sport organizations, including TCSL and MYSA, as well as the MN Department of Health to align on the best path to move forward for sports in the state.
What this means is that we will not be able to return to the field until June 1st at the earliest, as clarified by the task force. This phased return will likely begin with voluntary small group training in which contact between players is minimized if not eliminated. We will be putting together session plans, coach guidance, and safety protocols in accordance to final versions of Return to Play Safety Protocols. We will send out further guidance to membership before we return to the field.
The safety of our players, coaches, and families remains our top priority. We want to see kids back out playing on the field with their teammates, and that looks like it will happen soon in some capacity, but it’s important that we do it the right way.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate this together. These are tough times for everyone, us included, but the generous donations, consistent dedication, and overall resiliency we’ve seen from our members has been inspiring. We’re grateful to have a membership as supportive as you all have been and we’re grateful everyday that you chose to be a part of Blaine Soccer Club.
As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please reach out.
